Indy News: Big tournament in Santa Cruz, CA PDF Print

Santa Cruz, CA has never had a wrestling company come along in a very long time. WWE had held house shows at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium in the early '80s but never really adopted the historical beach town. Today, a new company with some very prominent NorCal stars has come along and already their World Title Tournament that has already created a lot of buzz with the community. That company is Rival Forge Wrestling.

The first round of the tournament took two shows featuring four great matches!  The winners and losers of these matches moved on to Round 2 into respective brackets. Since this is a double-elimination tournament, wrestlers had a second chance in winning the belt. Mike Hayashi and Kahn Abadi had one heck of a match and really stole that round with their amazing high flying skills and technical athleticism. There was even a moment where referee Sparky Ballard looked to have counted 1-2-3 for Abadi to where the fans and commentators were confused but it was still rolling and the fans were definitely into the match.

* Rik Luxury chose Christina Von Eerie as his Round 1 opponent after his win in a 3-way match up against Jody Kristofferson and Sir Samurai.

Round 2 (06/04/10)
Round 2 featured those brackets all in one night and the wrestlers in the brackets were chosen at random.  This round determined the entrants for the third round, which features The Forge, an eight-man 10-foot high steel cage, which will be coming up on October 29th.  Round 2 was also the setting for the first four eliminations from the losers' bracket.

1 Sir Samurai was defeated due to interference by Lawrence Adams and Larry Blackwell, which Adams hired as his main bodyguard for the tournament. Sir Samurai later gave Blackwell his receipt by stomping on Latin Dragon in front of the referee. (Sir Samurai did apologize to Latin Dragon.)

2 Earlier in the night, "Sheik" Kahn Abadi and Rik Luxury attacked Mike Hayashi, resulting in a hurt left knee. Mike Hayashi did come out to the participate in a six-man tag team match with Matt Carlos and Sir Samurai to take on Lawrence Adams, Larry Blackwell, and Vennis DeMarco, only to be attacked by Kahn Abadi once again.

This tournament is almost half-way done and we have much more action to bring you. October 29th will feature the eight-man cage match featuring the following eight competitors:
